Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Are Youth Dances?

A: Youth dances are for kids in grades 5-8 who want to come out and have fun with kids their own age. The dances are on specific Friday nights and will be held upstairs at the Pelham Arena and run from September to April. Doors open at 6:45p.m., the dance will run from 7:00p.m.to 10:00p.m. For specific dance dates check out our dance calendar.

Q: What's The Cost Of The Dances, How Much Money Do I Need To Send With My Child?

A: The cost is $7.00 per child to come to the dance. There will be snacks available like pop, water, and pizza for $1.00 each. There will also be glow products for sale and the prices will range from $1.00 to $3.00.

Q: Will My Child Be Supervised by Adults?

A: Yes they will. Once you drop off your child and they enter the building, they are not allowed to leave the building until a parent is AT THE DOOR to pick them up. We will have a staff member at the back of the hall to ensure that no one goes out the back door. There will also be a staff member at the front door to ensure the same thing. We want to make sure that when you drop your child off at the dance, you are confident they will not be out roaming the streets.

Q: My Son/Daughter Has A Peanut Allergy How Can I Be Sure There Won't Be Any Peanuts There?

A: Our staff is well aware of the different kinds of allergies that exist and that's why we will not be serving any snacks with peanuts. That is also why we don't allow knapsacks or outside snacks into our dances. We will take every precaution possible, however, if your child has a severe allergy we would ask that you let us know at the door and what actions should be taken incase of a reaction.

Q: What About The Music, What Kind Of Music Will Be Played?

A: All of the DJ's music is what they call "radio edits" which means that these are the versions that you hear played on the radio. The DJ will accept requests but will not play any music that he or she is not familiar with. If we don't have a song, we will do our best to get it but please do not bring a song that you want to hear that we don't have. The DJ WILL NOT play it.

Q: Do You Need Help Chaperoning The Dances?

A: Sure, if you have nothing planned the night of the dance we could use the help and there are lots of perks involved as well. If you chaperone the dance, your child gets in free to the dance. You get free pizza, pop and water and you get to keep an eye on your child. We even pay you for helping out and spending time with us. We would only require help once in a while as we have plenty of friends and family that are helping out as well. If you want to help out, send me an email and we’ll discuss the details.

Q: Is My Child Going to Dance or Just Sit On The Chairs?

A: We hope that your child dances to all the great music that will be played instead of just sitting on a chair. We plan on doing some participation games such as a hula hoop contest, limbo contest, dance contest and other games to get kids up and dancing. There will also be small prizes given out for the winners. We will also be doing participation dances such as the YMCA, Macarena and Cha Cha Slide, among others to get them up and moving. If you know of a game that you think will work, send it to us for review.
